Exotic populations in Galactic Globular Clusters
Recent high-resolution observations of the central region of Galactic globular clusters have shown the presence of a large variety of exotic stellar objects whose formation and evolution may be strongly affected by dynamical interactions. In this paper I review the main properties of two classes of exotic objects: the so-called Blue Stragglers stars and the recently identified optical companion...
متن کاملKinematics of Globular Clusters in M49 and M87
We present recent multi-object spectroscopy of globular clusters in the Virgo gEs M49 and M87. In M49, we have a total of 144 confirmed clusters out to 8 arcmin radius (∼ 6 R ef f or 35 kpc). We find that the blue (metal-poor) clusters have both a higher velocity dispersion and rotation than the red (metal-poor) clusters. For the metal-rich population we place an upper limit of (v/σ) proj < 0.3...
متن کاملKinematics and Metallicities of Globular Clusters in M 104
We have obtained spectra for globular cluster candidates in M104 with LDSS-2 on the William Herschel Telescope, confirming 34 objects as M104 globular clusters. We find a cluster velocity dispersion of ∼ 260 km/sec, and the Projected Mass Estimator gives a mass of 5.0 (3.5,6.7) × 10 11 M ⊙ for M104 within a projected radius of ∼ 330 ′′ (14 kpc for D=8.55 Mpc). Our best estimate for the mass-to-...
متن کاملMultiple stellar populations in Globular Clusters: collection of information from the Horizontal Branch
The majority of the inhomogeneities in the chemical composition of Globular Cluster (GC) stars appear due to primordial enrichment by hot-CNO cycled material processed in stars belonging to a first stellar generation. Either massive AGB envelopes subject to hot bottom burning, or the envelopes of massive fastly rotating stars could be the progenitors. In both cases, the stars showing chemical a...
متن کاملnorms and constraints in translating childrens novels from english into persian
abstract foreign and iranian cultures are far distinct in the constraints imposed on writing and translating for children, since the iranian literary system is mainly concerned with cultural and religious instructions which lead to manipulation of translated texts. this study sought to identify the cultural and social constraints and norms which determined the strategies applied in the transl...
